Product FAQ

1. Can I check the quality of data recovery before I purchase?
Yes. Demo Version of Getway Raid Recovery allows you to recover a limited number of folders, so you can inspect the files and verify the recovery quality. Download the Demo Version now.

2. Can Getway RAID Recovery recover my files if the MBR is damaged?
Yes, Getway RAID Recovery can still recover files even if the MBR is missing.

3. What are the System Requirements?
Pentium processor
32-128MB RAM
Windows95/98/ME, Windows NT, 2000, XP, Vista
One problem-free hard disk to boot from
Disk controller card capable of handling all the drives in your RAID individually
Storage space for holding the reconstructed RAID

4. When should I use the "Automatic Analysis Mode"? What are the advantages?
"Automatic Analysis Mode" can help user recovery the RAID easily, quickly and conveniently, even though the user doesn't know the RAID Knowledge. User does not need to participate in setting the parameters. When user doesn't know the RAID Parameters, such as Stripe Size, Drive Offset, Direction of Rotation, and Drive Order, etc. he just need to choose the "Automatic Analysis Mode" and the system can help him analyze all details of the parameters.

5. When should I use the "Manual Analysis Mode"? What are the advantages?
You can directly use the "Manual Analysis Mode" in any condition. The important things are that you should know all details of the RAID, and also you should correctly set up all the parameters, such as Stripe Size; Drive Order; Drive Offset; RAID Type, etc. If you can't set up the effective parameters, you can't get the effective data by Manual Analysis. In general, we just recommend the "Manual Analysis Mode" to the professional user, and also we don't suggest user directly use the "Manual Analysis Mode". We suggest user use the "Manual Analysis Mode" to analysis the RAID when he can't get the data by the "Automatic Analysis Mode", or the RAID type is special, or encounter the file system which can't be supported by the system.

6. When should I use the "Custom Mode"? What are the advantages?
"Custom Mode" is the powerful complementarity to the RAID Type which can't be supported by the system. User can set up the RAID Type, the numbers on every strip, thus it increase the flexibility of the system. Certainly, "Custom Mode" is like the "Manual Analysis Mode" which is recommended to professional user.

7. What is the function of the "File View"? What are the advantages?
User can directly view the partition data by the "File Browsing". User can estimate the automatic analysis result /manual set parameters is right or not. If the result/ parameters is right, user can create the image.

8. What is the meaning of "Offset"? What is the meaning of "Loss"? When should I select the "Loss"?
"Offset" refers to skip the some sectors which don't have the effective data. "Loss" refers to allow one disk be lost in the RAID 5/ RAID5E/ RAID5EE/ RAID 6. The data on the lost disk can be found by analysis the other disk's data. You can need to select which hard disk's data loss.
